Four obligations attached to a till
In Germany a till is not a calculator, it is evidence. These are the four things it has to do.

Every transaction is signed through Fiskaly's certified cloud TSE. No surcharge and no second piece of hardware.

Every transaction gets a receipt, printed or as a QR code on the customer's phone.

Walk-ins without an account
Someone coming in without an appointment is recorded as a name on a booking, not as a customer account. No mailbox, no login, no history.

Every payment method recorded in one transaction, each with its own entry in the journal.
Split the bill
Two people, one appointment, paying separately. Cash and card can be mixed.

Sell, redeem and carry a remaining balance. A voucher only becomes revenue when it is redeemed.

A refund gets its own signature, traceably chained to the original receipt.

A language per person
Each staff member picks their own language. The receipt stays in the location's language.

Tips kept separate
A tip is not the business's revenue. It is recorded separately, assigned to the person, and appears in the DSFinV-K export in its own category.
Do I need hardware for this?
For cash, the tablet is enough. For card payments you add a reader, ordered directly from Stripe.

What do I show during a cash audit?
The DSFinV-K export for the period under audit and the process documentation. You pull both out of the system yourself.
Does the TSE cost extra?
No. The Fiskaly cloud TSE is included in the price, however many receipts you issue.
Do you register my till with the tax office?
You file it yourself through ELSTER. Everything you need for it is ready in the dashboard.
What happens if the internet goes down?
You keep taking payment. Transactions are held and signed retroactively once the connection is back.
Do I have to buy hardware?
No. The terminal runs on a tablet or phone you already have. A card reader is optional.
Which card reader do I need?
The Stripe Reader S700 or the BBPOS WisePad 3. You order either directly from Stripe out of the dashboard.
Can two customers pay separately?
Yes. The bill can be split, and the parts can use different payment methods.
Can I keep my old till?
Technically yes, but then you have two tills and two journals. An audit wants to see both, and reconciling them is work.
