Glossary: what the words in Terminz mean

Business and Team

Location: a shop with its own address, opening hours, team, services and customer list. Almost every setting applies to the location selected at the top of the dashboard.

Organisation: the company behind one or more locations. Whoever runs several locations creates them as a tenant admin (see “Add, transfer and close locations”).

Owner: the person the business belongs to. The owner holds every permission, cannot be restricted and can transfer ownership.

Manager: helps run a location. What a manager may see and do is set by the owner per person and per location (see “Appoint managers, assign permissions, and transfer ownership”).

Staff member: works at the location, has their own calendar and working hours and sees only their own appointments and times in the dashboard.

Permission: a single right, for example “View customer data”. Without it, the page or the button is not there.

Services and Prices

Service: something customers can book with you, with a duration and a price (see “Create and Edit a Service”).

Tier: when the price depends on something, for example hair length, customers pick a tier with its own price and duration when booking.

Add-on: an extra for a service, with a surcharge and extra time, picked while booking.

Bundle: several services as one appointment, with its own name, price and duration.

Package: one service several times, for example 5 visits, cheaper than one by one.

Promotion: a discount on a service for a set time, without a code. Customers see the old price struck through (see “Create a promotion for services”).

Discount code: a code customers enter when booking (see “Create, Limit, and Manage Discount Codes”).

Calendar and Times

Buffer: minutes before or after an appointment that nobody can book, for tidying up or preparing. Customers never see the buffer (see “Set buffer time for all services”).

Grid: the gap between the start times on offer, for example every 15 minutes. In the booking rules it is called Base interval.

Block: a time that cannot be booked, for one person, a resource, a service or the whole location (see “Create Outages, Closures, and Blockages”).

Online off: a time blocked on the booking page only. Your team keeps booking it in the calendar.

Resource: a room, a chair or a device a service needs. When the resource is taken, the time is not free.

Permanent: the plan view with the pattern of working hours that repeats every week, without vacation and holidays. The Week view shows a real calendar week with absences instead (see “Reading the Weekly Schedule”).

Customers

Customer list: everyone who booked with your location or whom you entered yourself. It belongs to your location.

Walk-in customer: someone without an entry in the customer list. You book the appointment without an account, and the customer gets no emails from you.

Locked file: the file of a customer who had their data erased. It no longer shows in any list (see “Data protection: customer list, data export, locked files”).

Till

Till: the part of Terminz you take payments with, in the dashboard and in the till app.

TSE: the technical security device that signs every sale at the till in Germany. Without a booked TSE module, the till in Germany takes no payments (see “Manage the Till App: PINs, TSE Module and Sessions”).

Receipt: the proof of a payment. Customers get it as a QR code (see “View, refund, and display receipt QR codes”).

Z report: the till's end-of-day close (see “Count the cash, close the register, and print the Z-report”).
