Embed the booking widget on an external website

A widget displays content about your location on a website other than Terminz: your price list, your opening hours with a map, or your reviews. The code is inserted once; after that, changes made in Terminz will automatically appear on your website. You can find the page via Marketing & website → Website & Google → Your website in group “Share” on line Widgets for your website (/manager/marketing/website/widgets). It applies to the location selected at the top of the dashboard.

You save everything on the page at once. As soon as you make a change, a bar appears at the bottom allowing you to save or discard your changes. Changes will only take effect on your website after you save them. The Reset to defaults button at the top resets the display of all widgets (Services, Reviews, Contact, and Booking button). The toggle and the websites you've entered remain as they are.

Four Steps to the Widget

  1. Turn it on. The toggle Turn widgets on (“Show your services, opening hours and reviews right on your own website.”) enables the widgets. Nothing happens without it.
  2. Enter the website. Under Your websites, enter the address where the widget should run.
  3. Select and configure the widget. The preview next to it immediately shows what the result will look like.
  4. Insert the code. Under “Code to embed”, copy the code and paste it into the location on your website where you want the widget to appear.

Your Websites

The Your websites (“The widget only loads on these addresses. Without an entry it stays empty everywhere.”) section is the sharing list. Use Add website to create a row and enter the address, for example meine-website.de. The X on the right removes the row.

  • You can enter the address using https:// and www.; Terminz only saves the computer name (meine-website.de). A slash, a path, spaces, and ? or # without a preceding https:// are not allowed.
  • Asterisks as placeholders, IP addresses, and names without a period are not allowed. The line turns red with “That does not look like a website address.”. When saving, Terminz rejects an invalid address with the message “'…' is not a valid website address.”
  • A maximum of 20 websites is allowed (“A location can enter a maximum of 20 websites.”).
  • If the toggle is on and no website is entered, the page displays a warning (“Add at least one website — otherwise the widget loads nowhere.”) and saving is rejected with the message “Enter at least one website before enabling the widgets.”

This restriction prevents anyone from embedding your price list on a third-party site: The widget remains empty at any other address.

Below each row, Terminz shows whether the widget is running there:

  • Active: The widget has been loaded in the last 7 days. It also shows the number of views over the last 30 days and the date of the last view.
  • Quiet: The last load was more than 7 days ago.
  • No loads yet: The widget has never been loaded there. If the toggle is enabled, “Is the code already on that page?” appears alongside it, with the link Get the code.

If requests came from an address that is not (or no longer) in the list, it appears under No longer allowed (“These addresses loaded the widget before. While they are not registered, it stays empty there.”) with the Allow again button, which adds it back to the list.

As long as the widget is running (switch on and at least one website entered), a row with Registered websites, Active, and Loads (30 days) appears above the list. The switch indicates where it is running (“Running on 2 websites.”). If no one has opened the widget yet, it displays “On. As soon as somebody opens your page with the widget on it, you will see it here.”

The counters only track visits to URLs from your list and do not store any visitor data.

Which widget?

Under Which widget?, you can choose one of four options; your selection determines the preview and the code below. You can embed multiple widgets one after another.

  • Services: Price list with search.
  • Location: Hours, map, contact.
  • Reviews: Stars and gallery.
  • Everything: All three combined.

Above each settings section, it indicates which widgets it applies to (“Applies to the selected widget”, “Applies to: …”, or “Applies to every widget”).

Features

The Services (“How the price list looks inside the widget.”) section contains:

  • Custom layout for the widget: a toggle switch. When set to “On,” the widget uses the settings you selected in the page editor. When set to “On,” you can choose Rows with image (one row per service, image on the left, price on the right), Cards (tiles with large images; requires high-quality photos), or Price list (very compact, no images, for long lists). Your Appointments page remains unaffected by this.
  • How many services: Show all, The first 12, or Custom number (a number field from 1 to 100). A widget expands to its full height, so the entire price list appears long on a mobile device.
  • Images: Show if available (images, as soon as enough services have one), Always show, or Never show (text and price only).
  • Show description: two lines below the name. Only worth it if your descriptions are well-maintained.
  • Booking button per service: a “Book” button on each line. On a mobile device, the button only appears in the detail view anyway.

Reviews

In section “Reviews”, set How many reviews to: Show all (every review you've approved), The first 6, or Custom number (1 to 100).

Location & Contact

The Location & contact (“Address, opening hours, map, social media and contact form.”) section has:

  • Custom layout for the widget: another toggle. When enabled, you can choose One column (everything listed one below the other, fits in a sidebar), Two columns (contact info and hours on the left, map on the right—the standard layout), or Map on top (wide map with contact info in three columns below it).
  • Show social media links: the profiles from the location settings as a row of icons. Nothing happens if no profiles are saved.
  • Show contact form: appears in the “Location” and “All” widgets. Inquiries are sent to you as tickets. This means you're responsible for your visitors' data.

Appointment Button

Section “Booking button” applies to every widget. Show booking button opens the booking form in a new tab and appears only if online booking is enabled (see “Set Up Booking Rules”).

Preview

On the right (above it on mobile) is Live preview with the views Full width, Column, and Phone, a reload button, and Open in a new tab. The gray bars represent your website's content. The widget does not have its own box and expands to its full height on your site; in the preview, it is truncated.

If no website is entered, Terminz rejects the widget everywhere, including in the preview. In that case, “Preview locked” appears there with the link Add a website. As soon as a website is entered and saved, the preview works.

Code for Embedding

The section “Code to embed” displays the code for the selected widget. Use Copy code to copy it. Paste it into your website where you want the widget to appear.

  • Recommended: a script code. The widget automatically adjusts its height to fit the content. It contains the values data-terminz-slug (the address of your location on Terminz) and data-terminz-widget (services, location, reviews, or all).
  • Without JavaScript: a iframe with a fixed height. Use this only if your website builder doesn't allow scripts.

In the script code, there is a section Advanced (“Colour and placement”) with two options:

  • Custom button colour for this page: a toggle with a color swatch that complements data-terminz-accent. Without it, the color comes from the design of your public page. The widget automatically uses the font and text color from your website anyway.
  • Set the placement: for page builders that move scripts (Wix, some Elementor setups). You enter the ID of the section where the widget should be placed, for example #widget-bereich. This becomes data-terminz-target.

The code only changes if you regenerate it here. Settings such as quantity, layout, or images are saved in Terminz, so you don't need to reinsert the code.

Privacy Policy

Section “Privacy” (“Add this paragraph to your website's privacy policy.”) contains pre-written text. It names Bornwerk UG (limited liability) as the data processor under Article 28 of the GDPR, the transmission of the IP address upon access, the legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, and your location as the data controller for inquiries via the widget. Copy paragraph copies this text. You should incorporate the text into your website's privacy policy. You should verify whether it is complete for your website either on your own or with your attorney.

Frequently Asked Questions

The widget remains blank. Check whether the toggle is turned on, whether your website is listed under “Your websites” (the exact address where the code is located), and whether you've saved the settings. The status next to the address indicates whether a request has already been received.

I don't see any requests, even though the code is there. The status will show “No loads yet” until someone opens the page with the widget. Try opening the page yourself.

Do I need to update the code when I change prices? No. Prices, services, business hours, and reviews come from Terminz.

How do I add just the price list? Select Services under “Which widget?” and copy the code. For reviews and location, select the widget and copy the code separately.

Where do I change my phone number, address, and social media profiles? Under Settings → Location → Address & Contact (see “Change your address, email, phone number, and social media profiles”).

Can I complete bookings directly in the widget? The "Book Now" button opens the booking form in a new tab.
