View and filter the booking journal
The transaction journal is the list of all transaction entries that Terminz creates for your location: sales, refunds, expenses, tip payments, and more. You can find it in the menu under Financials → Accounting → Ledger (/manager/ledger). It applies to the location selected at the top of the dashboard.
This page is read-only. You cannot create, edit, or delete anything here.
If your Komplett Kasse plan ends, the page remains viewable. The note “Your books stay open” will then appear at the top.
What's in the list
Each row is an entry with the following columns:
- Date: the transaction date. You can sort by this; “newest first” is the default.
- Type: the transaction type. You can sort by this.
- Description: the transaction description.
- Debit and Credit: the accounts to which the transaction was posted, each with the account number and name (SKR03). If multiple accounts are involved, the amount for each account is listed next to it. Both columns are hidden on mobile devices.
- Amount: the total of the debit side.
The types:
- Sale
- Refund
- Tip payout
- Expense
- Cash variance (from the till reconciliation)
- Payroll
- Manual
- Card fees
- Payout
If nothing is displayed, “No journal entries found” will appear there.
Search and Filter
- Search: Above the list, you can search for words in the description.
- Date range: A start date and an end date. The filter is based on the booking date. Both days are included.
- Entry type: One or more of the types listed above.
Search, filter, sort, and page are included in the page's URL. You can share a filtered view as a link.
How to Read an Entry
Entries follow the double-entry bookkeeping system: The amount appears on the left (debit) in one account and on the right (credit) in another. An example of a cash sale of €50: Debit “Checkout”, Credit a revenue account (8400, 8300, or 8100). Terminz does not separate out sales tax in this list. This is done by the DATEV export or your tax advisor (see “Reading and Exporting Financial Reports”).
You can find a list of accounts with their balances under “Chart of accounts” (Finances → Accounting → Chart of Accounts).
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit or delete an entry here? No. The journal is read-only.
Why is a sale missing? It only contains entries generated by Terminz itself: sales, refunds, expenses, tip payments, wages and commissions, till discrepancies, card fees, and disbursements. Bank statements, fixed assets, and closing entries are missing. Those come from your tax advisor.
Why don't I see this menu item? It only appears in the “Complete Till” plan and requires the permissions “View Basic Financial Reports” and “View Advanced Financial Analyses.”
