Create and Edit a Service
Here's how to create a service with duration, price, price tiers, team, resources, buffer, and additional services, and set where it can be booked.
In the dashboard
- Menu
- Services → Services
- Who
- Managers with permission “Manage services”. Creation is possible in every plan.
A service is anything your customers can book with you: a haircut, a massage, an oil change. It is associated with exactly one location. To create a new service, you only need the name, duration, and price; everything else is optional.
How to Create a Service
- In the menu, open Services → Services.
- Tap Add service. The “New service” form opens.
- Enter Service name, Duration (in minutes), and Price.
- Under Who offers this service?, select at least one person from your team. Without a staff member assigned, no one can book the service.
- Tap Create at the bottom.
If anything is missing, a message will appear above the “Still missing: …” button indicating the missing field. After that, Terminz displays “Service created” and the service appears in the list. When editing, the button is labeled Save and the message is “Service updated”. Changes take effect starting with the next booking; appointments already booked retain their price and duration.
Below the form, a preview shows how the service will appear to your customers.
The Fields in the Form
| Field | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Service name | yes | The name your customers see. It is not translated. |
| Description | no | Free text for your site. |
| Category | no | Select from the list or type in a new name. A new name creates the category for this location (“New category … is being created”). |
| Duration | yes | The appointment duration in minutes; this is how long your customers will see the appointment. |
| Price | yes | In euros. If set to €0, it displays “Free”. |
| Tax category | no | Normal (19%), Reduced (7%), or Zero (0%). The default is Normal. The rate itself is determined by your location's tax settings. |
| Who provides the service? | yes | The team members who perform it. |
| Required resources | no | A room, space, or piece of equipment that is reserved for the entire appointment. |
| Photos of this service | no | Real photos of your work, from your gallery or newly uploaded. You can remove an old single image using Remove previous picture. |
| Additional services | no | Optional extras that can be added to the booking. |
Does the price depend on anything?
Here you specify how the price is determined. You have three options:
- No, one price: a fixed price plus duration.
- I only know on site: the price isn't determined until checkout. Two options:
- From-price: Enter the minimum price under Price from, and optionally a maximum price under At most. If a maximum price is set, the page will display “35–60 €”; if not, it will show “starting at 35 €.” The maximum price must be higher than the starting price. You enter the exact price at checkout; it must never be lower than the “starting at” price.
- Price on request: The website shows “Price on request”; reservations are made only with you. You enter the price at checkout; the register won't accept payment until then.
- Something else: The price depends on a selection. You choose On hair length, On nail length, On duration, On size, or Custom steps. Which answer appears at the top depends on your industry.
For tiers, each Step has its own Duration and its own Price, optionally as From-price. You need at least two tiers and a duration for each. The Question for your customers (for example, “How long is your hair?”) is read by the customer before booking; they select the stage directly in the row. Use Edit steps to change the names, descriptions, and order of the levels, and Add step for additional settings. The levels belong to the location and apply to all services that use them. If you remove a level, it disappears from all these services; booked appointments remain as they are.
A service with tiers cannot be booked on its own—only its tiers can be booked. However, you'll still see only one row in the list.
Where can it be booked?
| Selection | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Online and in person | Your customers book themselves on your booking page; you book in the calendar and in the point-of-sale app. This is the default. |
| In-person only | The service appears on the booking page along with your phone number. Only you can book it. |
| Consultation first | You first book the consultation online; you then enter the service. Under Which consultation?, select the service that will be booked as a consultation. You cannot save the booking without a consultation. |
Buffer Time
Buffer time is time before or after the appointment that remains reserved in the calendar for preparation or cleanup. Customers cannot see or book it. Tap Set a buffer and enter Before the appointment and After the appointment. The values are set in increments that match the appointment grid, and entries are rounded up. Remove buffer removes it again.
Buffer time is disabled for the location until you enable it. If you save the first buffer for a service, you enable it for the location; the other services remain without a buffer. A buffer takes effect starting with the next booking; booked appointments retain their buffer.
Required resources
Each selected resource is reserved for the entire appointment; bookings can only be made if all are available at the same time. If you enter a name that doesn't exist yet, you create the resource directly and specify the quantity at How many of them are there?: three identical treatment tables are one resource with a quantity of 3, allowing three appointments to run simultaneously. You can add the location, serial number, and maintenance details later under “Resources.”
Additional services
Use Add to create an extra: Name, Surcharge in euros, and Extra minutes in minutes. Your customers select extras when booking. The surcharge and the additional time are added to the booked appointment and are also listed on the receipt.
What Happens After You Save
- The service appears in the list under Services → Services, along with duration, price, resources, and additional services.
- If no one is offering it or a resource is missing, “No team member” or “Resources missing” appears in the row, and “… services are incomplete” appears at the top of the banner. Until then, no one can book it.
- Services bookable online and in person appear on your booking page, grouped by category.
The Services Page
Tap a service in the list. The page displays the price and booking details, who offers it, the available dates in the calendar, related products, and the bundle it's part of. There you'll also find the link to this service: Share link copies it, Show QR code opens a printable code. Anyone who opens the link can view the service and book an appointment directly.
Combinations and Packages
At the top of the page, you can switch between Services, Combos, and Packages.
- A combo makes multiple services in the same appointment more affordable. You select at least two services and choose how much to save: Amount off, Percent off, or Fixed price. A fixed price is only available without tiered pricing. If a promotion is running on a service, the lower price always applies to the customer; both cannot be combined. The promotion ends at End combo; booked appointments retain their original price.
- A package consists of multiple instances of a service: under How many times?, the number of visits; under How is it paid?, either all at once at the time of purchase (the sale is processed at the checkout for a single appointment) or per visit (you assign it in the customer file). The package must be cheaper than purchasing the visits individually. End package blocks new purchases; anyone who has one retains the remaining visits.
Archive
Archive service removes the service from the booking. Pending appointments remain and are marked for rescheduling; past appointments retain the service. In the Archived tab, you can restore them using Restore service. Delete permanently is only available for archived services and removes them from the catalog.
Frequently Asked Questions
My new service isn't showing up on the booking page. Most often, the person is missing from the team or a resource is missing. Check the row in the list for “No team member” or “Resources missing”. If the service is set to “In store only” or “Price on request”, it's visible but cannot be booked online.
Can I set a price based on hair length? Yes, under “Does the price depend on something?” via Something else and On hair length.
Where do I specify who will perform the service? In the form under “Who offers this service?”. You'll see the same information on the service page under “Who offers it”.
Can I require a deposit? Not in the form.
