Appoint managers, assign permissions, and transfer ownership
Promote a staff member to manager, define their permissions, adjust them later one by one, remove a manager and transfer ownership to another person.
In the dashboard
- Menu
- Settings → Team & access → Permissions
- Who
- As a manager, access the page with the “Change business settings” permission. To promote someone, you also need the “Manage other managers' permissions” permission (or ownership). Only the owner may remove or transfer ownership. Tenant admins can view the page for every location in their organization. Works in every plan.
Appoint managers, assign permissions, and transfer ownership
Here you can specify who is allowed to co-manage your location and what each person can see and do. You can find the page in the menu under Settings → Team & access → Permissions (/manager/settings/permissions). Tenant admins can find it in the menu under Management → Manager permissions (/tenantadmin/permissions). There, first select the Location at the top; the page will then display its manager.
Next to the title, a small help text (“How access rights work”) explains:
- Permissions apply per person and per location. Anyone who works at two locations needs permissions at both, and revoking permissions at one location does not affect the other.
- Anyone who joins your team or becomes a manager can schedule appointments immediately; otherwise, no one would be able to book on their first day. If you don't want this for a specific person, you can revoke their permission here. There is no toggle for the entire location.
- Without a permission, the page or button simply won't appear. So if someone can't find something, it's worth checking here first.
- The business owner implicitly holds all permissions and cannot be restricted here.
Staff members who are only supposed to receive individual additional functions—without becoming managers—will find them in the row menu of the staff member list (see “Create, edit, assign, and deactivate staff members”).
Overview of the Page
The page has two sections:
- Current managers: the list of all managers at the location, along with the number of active managers. The owner is always listed at the top. For each person, you'll see their name, role, permissions, and status. The role is “Owner” or “Managers”, and the status is “Active” or “Inactive”. Permissions are listed in abbreviated form, such as “Full permissions”, “No permissions”, or “4/6 permissions.” In addition, there are the areas Staff members, Services, Bookings, Finance, and Settings, which are grayed out if the person does not have access to them. If there is no manager, “No managers yet” and “Promote staff members below to managers to grant team access.” appear there.
- Promote staff: one card per staff member with their name and email address. Next to it is the number of “available”. If someone is already a manager, the card displays “Managers”. Inactive staff members are marked and cannot be promoted. If there are no staff members yet, it displays “No staff members” with the Create first staff member button.
At the top of the page, the “Service-Provider mode” card links to the staff member list: “Manage your service-provider status from the staff list.” There, you can add yourself as a bookable service provider.
Promoting an Staff member to Manager
A manager starts out as a staff member. So first, create them under Team → Staff members.
- In “Promote staff”, tap Promote next to the person's name. This opens “Promote to manager”, which displays the person's name and email address along with the note “This staff member will be promoted to manager. You can set permissions.”
- Set the toggles under “Permissions”:
- Manage staff: “Can add and manage staff members”. Default: on.
- Manage services: “Can create and edit services”. Default: on.
- Manage bookings: “Create and edit appointments, and after a confirmation also across buffer, break and working hours”. Default: on.
- View financials: “Can see revenue and reports”. Default: off.
- Modify settings: “Can change business settings”. Default: off.
- Optionally, enter a note under Notes (optional), for example, why the person is becoming a manager.
- Tap Promote to manager. After that, “Successfully promoted” and “… is now a manager” will appear there. The person will appear in “Current managers”. Use Cancel to close the dialog.
These five buttons are just the start. You can then configure the complete list of all individual permissions in the “Manage permissions” dialog.
Changing a Manager's Permissions
In a manager's row, tap Manage permissions. This is the same dialog as for staff members: You search for a permission (“Search permission”), select a template (“Choose a template or pick permissions manually”), or check boxes individually, organized by category. There are five templates ranging from basic access to full access (all rights except “Delete Business”). A template is just a starting point: After that, each permission can be toggled individually. A preview shows “What does … see?”, i.e., how many pages the person can view with this permission. Save with Save changes. The owner does not have this action; their access cannot be restricted.
Remove a Manager
In the manager's row, tap Remove. Terminz opens “Remove manager” and asks “Are you sure you want to remove this manager? This action cannot be undone.”. Use Remove to confirm, and Cancel to cancel. After that, “Manager removed successfully” will appear there. The person remains a staff member and reappears under “Promote staff”.
Only the owner can do this. You cannot remove the owner or yourself. If the owner is to change, you must first transfer ownership.
Transfer Ownership
In the owner's row (only you can see it if you're the owner), tap Transfer ownership. A dialog with the same name opens:
- Warning: “Transferring ownership will remove your owner rights. This action cannot be easily undone.”
- Select new owner: Select an existing manager for the location (“Select a manager for the transfer…”). If there isn't one, it will say “No eligible managers found”. In that case, promote the person to manager first.
- Note: “The selected manager will become the new business owner with full control. You will remain as a regular manager.”
- Confirm with Transfer ownership. After that, it will say “Business ownership has been successfully transferred”.
Only the current owner can do this.
