In the dashboard

- Services → Products
- Who
- Managers with the permissions “Manage Product Inventory” and “Import Customer and Appointment Lists”. Works in the Complete plan and higher.
Importing a product list from Excel
If you already have a price list or stock in Excel, you do not have to create products one by one. In Services → Products you open the Import a list button (/manager/products/import, only the icon on a phone). While the product list is still empty, the same button sits next to Create product. The page is called “Import product list”.
Terminz only reads its own template, not exports from other programs. You download the template, enter your products and upload the file again. If you prefer to work one by one, use Rather add them one by one and you are back in the product list.
Getting and filling in the template
- Download product template: The template is prepared for your location. Unit and tax rate are picked from lists, and a sheet of its own explains every column.
- Enter each product on a row. A product in several sizes or colours gets one row per size, with the same name and brand.
- Upload the filled-in template: Tap “Choose the filled-in template”. Only the Terminz template as
.xlsxis accepted, up to 5 MB. Terminz refuses another file with “This is not the template” and a file that is too big with “The file is too large”. Next takes you to the check.
The columns: Only “Name” and “Price (EUR)” are required. Everything else may stay empty and can be added in Terminz later.
| Column | What goes in |
|---|---|
| “Name” | What the product is called at the till and on your page. |
| “Brand” | The manufacturer, empty without a brand. |
| “Variant” | Only with several sizes or colours: what tells the rows apart, for example “Rosé”. If the content already tells them apart, leave it empty. |
| “Size” and “Unit” | How much is inside, for example 250 and ml. Terminz works out the base price per litre or kilo that has to be shown next to the price. 1.5 and l becomes 1500 ml. |
| “Price (EUR)” | The final price as on the price tag, for example 24.90. |
| “Cost price (EUR)” | What you pay for it. Only your team sees it. |
| “Stock” | How many packs are there now, whole number. Empty means 0. |
| “Barcode” and “Product number” | The number on the pack (EAN) and your own. Each may appear only once. |
| “VAT rate” | Empty means “Standard”, which applies to care products and cosmetics. Pick another rate only if you are sure. |
| “Category” | Pick from the list or type a new name, which the import creates. |
| “Description” | Free text. |
| “Show online” | “Yes” shows the product on your page, “No” or empty keeps it at the till only. |
An example: two rows “Repair Shampoo” with 250 ml at 24.90 and 1 l at 69.00 become one product with two sizes. Next to the 24.90 € the base price 99.60 € / 1 l appears.
If your location is a small business (§ 19 UStG), receipts show no VAT whatever “VAT rate” says.
Checking
Terminz reads the file and shows what will happen before anything is saved. The heading gives the number: “3 products will be imported.”
- Does the product already exist? The same name and brand count as the same product. “3 products already exist. What should happen to them?” You choose “Leave as is” (default, nothing changes), “Overwrite” (values from the file replace the old ones, empty cells change nothing) or “Fill empty fields” (only empty fields are filled in, for example a barcode; stock stays). A size the product does not have yet is added in both cases.
- The stock counts as counted. If the file holds a different stock with “Overwrite”, Terminz books the difference as a stocktake.
- Rows with errors are left out. They appear under “To check” with the row number and the reason. Fix them in the file and upload it again.
The button with the number (for example Take over 3) starts the import. Afterwards the page offers the error report, Import more and Rollback import, as in “Bring your data”. Undo works for 30 days in the import history. If you leave the page without importing, nothing is saved.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I not see the button? You need both permissions and the Complete plan or higher.
Can I import pictures? No. Upload pictures on the product.
I uploaded twice, now what? With “Leave as is” nothing happens, the product exists already. With “Overwrite” the same row applies again.
