Set Up and Evaluate Commissions for Staff members
Here's how to set up a commission rule for each staff member (flat rate, tiered, or per service), select the month, and export the report as a CSV.
In the dashboard
- Menu
- Financials → Reports → Commission report
- Who
- Managers with the permission “View Payroll” (data and rules) and in the “View Basic Financial Reports” menu. Only in the Komplett Kasse plan. The page is marked as beta.
Set Up and Evaluate Commissions for Staff members
Here, you specify how much commission each staff member receives based on sales and see the results for a given month. You can find the page in the menu under Financials → Reports → Commission report (/manager/commission-report). It applies to the location selected at the top of the dashboard.
This page is only available in the Komplett Kasse plan and is marked as Beta. Terminz calculates the commission but does not make any payments. The figure serves as the basis for your payroll calculations.
What Counts as Revenue
An appointment counts as revenue—at the booked price—as soon as it is completed and paid for. The date on which the appointment begins (in your location's time zone) is what counts. Pending, canceled, or unpaid appointments do not count. Products sold are counted separately and calculated at a separate rate (see “Commission on products (%)”).
Select the Month
At the top, select the month under Period. The current month is selected by default. Below that, a number bar displays “Revenue generated”, “Product sales” (only if applicable), and “Commission earned”, each representing the total for all staff members.
For each staff member with a saved rule, there is a card displaying:
- their name and an icon for the phrase: “Flat rate x%,” “Tiered”, or “Per service”;
- monthly sales and commission;
- line “Products: … sold, … commission”, if products were sold;
- the number of appointments;
- the Commission settings button, which opens the rule.
If no one has a rule for that month, it displays “No commission data for the selected period.”. If the page fails to load, it displays “Failed to load commission report”.
The badge “Minimum wage check”
If a card appears with the badge “Minimum wage check”, the commission per hour worked is below the statutory minimum wage. The tooltip says: “Effective hourly rate may be below the 2025 minimum wage (€12.81/hr). Please verify.” The calculation is based on the minutes of work the person performed that month. This is a note, not a wage calculation. Check it with your payroll department.
Set Up a Rule
In block “Staff commission setup”, each staff member is listed with a badge (the commission type or “Not configured”) and the Configure button. Anyone who still has “Not configured” will not appear in the report until you have saved a rule.
Configure or Commission settings opens the “Commission Settings — <Name>” panel with these fields:
- Commission type: “Flat %”, “Tiered”, or “Per service”. Depending on the type, a different section appears.
- Flat rate (%): only for “Flat %”. A value from 0 to 100 in increments of 0.5; the default is 10. It applies to the person's total sales.
- Tiers: Only for “Tiered”. A table with columns “Min revenue (€)”, “Max revenue (€, empty = no cap)”, and “Rate (%)”. Add tier adds a row. The last remaining row cannot be deleted.
- Per-service rates: Only applies to “Per service”. A list of your active services with the “Commission (%)” column. If there are none, it displays “No active services found.” Only benefits with an amount greater than 0 are saved.
- Commission on products (%): 0 to 100. The note reads: “On the shelf price of the pieces the customer kept. Leave empty for none.”. This applies to all three types.
- Effective from: Required field; the date from which the rule applies. If no date is entered, “Pick the date the rule starts.” appears
Use Save to accept the rule; Cancel rejects it.
How the tiered calculation works
The brackets work like tax brackets: Each rate applies only to the portion of sales that falls within its bracket, not to the total sales. Enter amounts in euros; Terminz saves them in cents.
Example: Tier 1 from 0 to 2,000 € at 10%, Tier 2 starting at 2,000 € with no maximum at 15%. For €3,000 in revenue, that's €200 on the first €2,000 and €150 on the remaining €1,000, for a total of €350. Revenue below the first tier or in a gap between two tiers does not generate a commission. So start the first tier at 0 and leave no gaps.
When saving, Terminz checks the following:
- Each value is between 0 and 100.
- The maximum revenue for a tier is greater than its minimum revenue.
- Only the last tier may have no maximum.
- The tiers do not overlap.
Otherwise, the drawer remains open and an error message explains the reason.
How “Per service” Is Calculated
Terminz takes the price of each service rendered (after deducting discounts) and multiplies it by the rate for that service. A service without a rate does not generate a commission. If the service has a variant and only the main service has a rate, that rate also applies to the variant.
Changing a rule
A changed rule does not replace the previous one retroactively. Terminz terminates the old rule on the date “Effective from” and applies the new one starting on that day. For any earlier month, the rule that was in effect at that time continues to apply.
Export as CSV
Export CSV saves the report for the selected month as file commission-<Start>-<Ende>.csv on your device. It contains one row per staff member with the columns Staff, Revenue, Product sales, Product commission, Commission, Type, Appointments, and Min.Wage Alert (English headers, amounts in euros with a period as the decimal separator, “YES” for minimum wage alert). The file is generated directly in the browser. If the report is empty, nothing happens when you tap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a staff member missing from the report? No rule has been set up for her yet. Enter her under “Staff commission setup” with Configure.
Why is the commission lower than expected? Only completed and paid appointments count. For “Tiered”, each rate applies only to its respective level. And a gap between levels does not contribute to the revenue for that level.
Does Terminz pay out the commission? No. The site calculates and exports the data. You have to pay out and record the commission yourself.
Does the number match the pay stub? Yes, both use the same invoice.
I don't see the menu item. It only appears in the “Komplett Kasse” plan and requires the permissions “View Basic Financial Reports” and “View Pay Stubs.”
