Create, change or delete your own terminal PIN
As a staff member, this is how you set, change, or delete your four-digit PIN for the POS app, and view your recent logins and active sessions.
In the dashboard
- Menu
- Settings → Terminal PIN
- Who
- Staff members who are authorized to use the till app. This page is only available as long as “Enable terminal” is enabled for the location. If your manager has blocked your access, “No access” will appear there. Works with every plan.
Create, Change, and Delete Your Own Terminal PIN (Staff member)
Use your four-digit PIN to log in to the POS app. As a staff member, you set it yourself without your manager needing to know it. You'll find the page under Settings → Terminal PIN (/staff/terminal-settings). It only appears if the location has the terminal enabled. Managers and tenant admins don't have this page; they set their PIN on page “Till app”.
If your access to the POS app is blocked, the page will display “No access” instead, along with a note to ask your manager. If you aren't assigned to a location, it will show “You are not assigned to any business.”.
What's on the page
On the left is the map Your terminal PIN. Below it is “PIN configured” or “No PIN configured”; in the top right corner is “Active” or “Inactive”. “Inactive” means there is no PIN or that it has been deactivated. Three lines show “Created at”, “Last used”, and “Login count” (with no entry for “Never”).
On the right is the Active sessions card. It only appears if you hold the permission “Add/configure terminal devices”. It counts the devices you're currently logged into and lists the name, status “Active” or “Expired”, “Created”, and “Expires at” for each device. If there's no session, it shows “No active terminal sessions”. You cannot end a session here; your manager does that.
At the bottom, the card Terminal access explains in four steps how to use the PIN: Open the terminal app on a registered device, enter the four-digit PIN, and you'll be automatically logged in. If the terminal sits untouched, it signs you out again, after 8 hours at the latest. Your manager sets the exact timing for each device (see “Manage Devices and Card Readers,” fields “Idle timeout (s)” and “Session timeout (s)”).
Create or Change a PIN
- Tap Create PIN. If you already have a PIN, the button says Change PIN code.
- Enter four digits in field PIN (4 digits) and repeat them in Confirm PIN. Both fields display dots. The field does not accept letters or special characters.
- Tap Create PIN or Change PIN code. The button remains disabled as long as a field is empty or the two entries do not match.
The PIN must be exactly 4 digits long and may not contain consecutive numbers (for example, 1234 or 9876) or repeated digits (1111). If it violates these rules, the server will reject it and display the message “Error setting PIN” or the reason for the rejection.
After saving, a success message appears, the window closes, and the card displays “PIN configured”. The new PIN takes effect immediately. Terminz stores only a hash; no one can read the PIN itself. Your manager's activity log will show “PIN set” along with your name.
After three incorrect entries in the till app, you'll be locked out for five minutes.
Delete PIN
Press Delete (visible only if you have a PIN) to open “Confirm PIN deletion”. It says: You will not be able to log in to the terminal again until you create a new PIN. Delete PIN permanently deletes it; the log shows “PIN deleted”. You can set a new PIN at any time using Create PIN.
Frequently Asked Questions
I forgot my PIN. You can reset it here at any time: Change PIN code doesn't require the old PIN. If you have any problems, ask your manager.
The page is missing from my menu. That means “Enable terminal” is disabled for this location. Your manager can configure this in the settings.
Can my manager see my PIN? No. They can only reset it, deactivate it, or block your access to the till app.
Can I share my PIN with a coworker? No. Sales, counts, and refunds are attributed to the person who is logged in. If you share your PIN, it will be impossible to tell later who did what.
