Minz: ask questions about Terminz

Minz is the AI help in the dashboard. It answers questions about using Terminz, and only from this handbook: it tells you step by step where to find something and takes you to the right page. It does not see your appointments, customers or figures.

Asking Minz

You can reach Minz from any page:

  • Phone: tap Menu at the bottom, then the field “Ask Minz something about Terminz” with Ask Minz at the very bottom of the menu.
  • Computer: click Ask Minz at the bottom of the sidebar on the left, right above your profile picture.

Minz lies over the page you are on and dims it. On a phone the field “Ask Minz something about Terminz” sits at the bottom, with “What would you like to know?” above it. On a computer both sit in the middle, and the cursor is already in the field. Type your question and send it with the arrow. The X at the top right closes Minz again.

You can also ask straight from the search you use to find pages (on a computer also with Ctrl + K, ⌘ + K on a Mac). A single word like “buffer” simply finds the page. As soon as you type a real question, for example “Where do I set the buffer time?”, the row Ask Minz: “…” appears below the pages found. Only when you tap it (or select it with the arrow keys on a computer and press Enter) does the question go to Minz. Typing alone sends nothing.

The answer appears above the field. While Minz is looking, it says “Minz is searching the handbook …”.

Once you have asked, the field moves to the bottom and the answers appear above it. When you ask again, your earlier questions and answers stay and the new one appears below them. Enter sends the question, Shift + Enter starts a new line. If you close Minz and open it again, everything is still there until you reload the page. New chat at the top right starts over. None of it is saved.

Reading the answer

  • Your question is at the top, followed by a short sentence as the answer.
  • Then come the steps. The word you need to tap in the dashboard is in bold. When a step has a button such as Open Services, one tap takes you straight to that page and Minz closes.
  • After a step, a small book names the handbook section it comes from. Tapping it opens that section of the handbook.
  • Below the answer, Sources shows how many sections it leans on. Tapping it opens “From the handbook” with each section and its first sentences: to the right of the chat on a computer, from the bottom on a phone. Read in the handbook opens the whole section.
  • If your question is ambiguous, Minz asks back under “What exactly do you mean?” and offers two or three options to tap.
  • If a step needs a permission you do not have, Minz says so. Your location's management gives you the permission (see “Appoint managers, assign permissions, and transfer ownership”).

Minz is an AI and can make mistakes. It says so below the field you type in and above every form Minz fills in for you. So check every step and every value before you save, and do not enter customer data in your question.

Minz never saves anything. Minz creates, changes, deletes or sends nothing, not even when you ask it to. If you write “Save this for me”, Minz shows you the way and you tap Save or Create yourself.

Asking a follow-up

At the bottom is the field “Ask Minz something about Terminz”. Minz reads what you type there as a follow-up to the last question, for example “And for a single staff member?”. Minz only knows the one question before, not a longer history. A question can be at most 300 characters long.

Letting Minz fill in a form

If your question already says what should change, Minz offers below the answer to fill in the matching form for you, for example “Add Men's cut, 30 minutes, 25 euros” or “Rename Lash lift to Lash lifting”. When you tap Fill in the form, the chat closes and the page with the form opens. A small card in the corner shows what Minz is doing. Once Minz is done, the form opens with the values from your question. If you have moved to another page in the meantime, the card waits for you with Open form. If Minz is missing a detail, the card says so, and Back to chat takes you back to your question. This works for:

  • Services and Products: add a new one or change an existing one, such as its name, price or duration.
  • Resources: add a new one or change an existing one, such as its name, type or how many bookings it takes at once.
  • Booking rules: for example how long before an appointment it can still be cancelled or how far ahead customers may book.
  • Opening hours: which days are open or closed, and at what times.
  • Buffer time: the time before and after each appointment.
  • Categories for services: add a new one or rename one.
  • Closures: one day or several, all day or with times, for example “We are closed on 24 December”. Without a year, Terminz takes the next such day. Whether your customers are notified is up to you in the form.
  • Profile & branding: your location's new name, your website address and the description, for example “Our salon is now called Studio Mirela”. If you write the address without https://, Terminz adds it. Minz does not fill in the address, email or phone number: Terminz takes phone numbers, email addresses and postcodes out of your question before Minz reads it.
  • Website: a new question with its answer under FAQ and a new amenity, such as “Free Wi-Fi”. Terminz picks the icon from the name. If none fits, you pick it yourself.
  • Discount codes: a new code with a percentage or an amount, a minimum order, uses and a period, for example “Add the discount code SUMMER10 with 10 %, valid until 31 August”. Without a start date the code applies from today.
  • Promotions, Bundles and Packages: a new promotion for one or more services, a bundle of several services, for example “Create a bundle of cut and blow-dry for 45 euros”, or a package of several visits for one service, for example “Add a package of 5 massages for 200 €”. Terminz looks for the services in your list. If it finds one not at all or several with that name, the form tells you which, and you pick it yourself.
  • Loyalty card: after how many appointments there is a reward and how much it is. The card is only switched on if you say so explicitly.

If you name an existing service, product, resource or category, Terminz looks for it in your list and opens it with the new values. For a category Terminz asks first, and only Rename changes the name. If Terminz finds no entry or several with that name, the list stays open and Terminz tells you so. Tap Edit on the right entry and the form is already filled in.

  • Above the form you see which fields Minz filled in or changed: the field, the old value struck through and the new one. Each of these fields shows from Minz until you change it yourself, so you can tell at a glance what still comes from Minz.
  • Nothing is saved yet. Check the values and tap Create, Add or Save. Only then does anything change. On the settings pages you save as usual with Save at the bottom.
  • If you close the form of a service, product or resource, Terminz asks whether to discard your entries. The other forms close without asking. Afterwards nothing has changed.
  • Minz only takes values that are in your question. If something needed to add an entry is missing, it says what is missing instead of making something up.
  • You only see the offer if you may save that form yourself, with the same permission. Filling in the form counts as one question to Minz.
  • Minz never fills in customers, appointments, staff, the till, invoices, expenses, mails, permissions, legal texts, the online booking switch, blocking a service or resource for some days or anything that deletes or archives. There it only tells you where to do it yourself.
  • If Minz cannot be reached while filling in, or you are offline, it says so below the offer, with Try again. One tap sends the same request again. If today's questions are used up or Minz cannot help with it, there is no button.

When Minz has no answer

If something is not in the handbook, Minz says so instead of guessing: “Sorry, the handbook doesn't cover this. Our team is happy to help.”

Ask the team opens a new message to Terminz support with your question already filled in. You only need to send it (see “Messages with Terminz, your team and locations”). As a tenant admin you land in your messages.

Minz does not answer questions that have nothing to do with Terminz.

How many questions you have

  • Per person: 30 questions within 24 hours, counted from your first question.
  • Per location: 120 questions within 24 hours, for everyone there together.
  • A question someone has already asked in exactly the same words is answered from memory. It does not count.
  • If Minz could not answer because it was unreachable, the question does not count either.

When the questions are used up, it says “All questions to Minz are used up for today.”, with a link to the handbook. If Minz is taking a break for the month, it says so there too. The handbook itself is always open.

What happens to your question

  • Only the text of your question goes to Minz and, for a follow-up, the question before it. No names from your location, no appointments, no customer data.
  • Terminz removes email addresses, phone numbers, IBANs and numbers that look like an identifier from the question before it goes on.
  • The answer is written by an AI model at Amazon Web Services in data centres inside the EU. The question never leaves the EU.
  • Terminz does not keep the wording of your question in your account, in logs or in statistics. Only the answer is stored, for 7 days, so that the same question does not cost money again.
  • Below every answer there is a thumbs up and a thumbs down. Your thumb is only counted, without your question and without your name.

When the “Ask Minz” row is missing

  • Minz is there for managers and tenant admins. Staff members and customers do not see it.
  • Minz is not switched on at every location. If the Ask Minz button and the row are missing for every question, it is not on for your location yet.
  • Minz only answers once the account holder has accepted the current terms: Settings → Till & payments → Plan & Stripe, Confirm contract.
  • A single word or the name of a page only shows the page. Type a whole question.
  • Without an internet connection Minz cannot answer. Once you are back online, send the question again with Try again.
  • The same goes for filling in a form and for suggesting texts: they also show Try again when Minz could not be reached.
